Why Colombia said No to peace with the FARC

934

On October 2, Colombia held a direct vote on the peace agreement with the Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Against all odds, the result was “no,” although the outcome was very close: 50.21 percent voted against and 48.78 percent in favor. The victory of the “No” vote leaves the country in a situation of uncertainty, confusion and instability.

This report, prepared in collaboration with Natalia Vargas, analyzes the reasons the Colombian population voted against a peace agreement with the FARC.
