Management of influence in democracies

Lobbying is usually seen as a tool to manipulate public powers that can be used by those with enough money and power.

However, far from it, the management of influence is a key element in order to build and strengthen a healthy democracy. Even more, in a non-democratic environment professional management strategies are unnecessary: influence peddling solves all problems.

This report written by the Mexican team of Public Affairs shows that for the influence management to fulfill this important role for democracies, it is crucial to do it in a transparent and regulated way, although it is quite difficult to define this regulation and make it functional.

Finally, consulting corporations in the field of influence management will face important challenges for their activity to expand throughout all sectors of society.
